Choice of Fear

I wrote this one day when I felt randomly afraid of something, and I couldn't figure out what it was.

Does it make sense
To be afraid
Of what you know not?

Afraid of snakes,
or spiders,
Or just getting caught?

Fear is something strange,
Confusing,
A trick of the mind.

In our precariousness,
Should we accept it,
Or leave it behind?

Acceptance.
Betray your courage.

Abandonment.
Betray your truth.

It all comes to this;
We can't understand fear,
So what do we chose?
Courage or truth?

Betrayal is a sin.
Life is not meant for sins,
So hide from fear,
And live with shame.
