The good natured boy

Once upon a time there was a young boy who had friends a plenty, beloved by all and good by nature. One day after a hard day’s work the boy descended homeward when he came across an old woman in need. Being good by nature the boy went to the aid of the woman, when she turned to face him the boy became overcome with fright, for the old woman’s face looked as though it was melting before his eyes.

As the boy tried to flee the woman grabbed him, unable to break free the boy was dragged into the dark wood by the woman. The old woman dragged him for what seemed like miles before the came across a dark weary house. Once inside the woman turned to face the boy yet again, to his amazement her face now seemed to the boy as a fair maiden.
In a soft voice she said “Come in dear, take a seat as I prepare to cook your flesh and meat.”

The woman led the boy into the kitchen and motioned toward the table and repeated: “Come in dear, take a seat as I prepare to cook your flesh and meat.”
In a bewitched state the boy took a seat as the table, transfixed on the woman’s beautiful face. The woman fed the embers in the fire place, she turned to the boy and said “little boy, little boys much pay the toll, for all I acquire is their good natured souls.”
