I dreamed of walks on the beach

Going to hide where no one could reach

Cuddling on the old, wooden bench in the park

Kissing in the cold, wearing our scarves

He’d be tall and cheesy and kind

He’d love to laugh and speak his mind

We’d fall in love, and grow old in time

But best, I’d be his, and he’d be mine

But I’ve found you instead

I’ve given up on those silly ideas in my head

I never wanted any of that

What I wanted is what I’ve got

You’ll never be mine, and I’ll never be yours

But that’s fine, because you mean more

So no hand to hold when I’m crying inside

No arms to hold me when I’m dying and died

No eyes to look softly down in my own

Because of you, dear, I’ll live my life alone

I never imagined things to end here like this

With a sad kind of joy in this pain ridden bliss

Pleasure and pain are coupled as one

Never believed until now, and now that it’s done

But I’ve found you instead

I’ve given up on those silly ideas in my head

I never wanted any of that

What I wanted is what I’ve got

You’ll never be mine, and I’ll never be yours

But that’s fine, because you mean more

The walks with you occur only in dreams

The wait between days are shorter than they seem

My pillow has taken the job that you won’t

You mean the best, but it’s better if you don’t

You’re tall and funny and sweet

I’m read as an open book, you make me weak

I’ve fallen in love, and have grown old in a blink

You’ve stolen my heart and youth and joy with each wink

I found you instead

I gave up on those silly ideas in my head

I never wanted any of that

What I wanted is what I’ve got

You're nor mine, and I'm not yours

But that’s fine, because you mean more
