Summary

Just coming out of a mad spell of writer's block. My first attempt in a while. I don't feel like writing a summary, you can figure it out.

If only I could be a wall

A meaningless object

On the side of the hall

People would paint over me

In boring colors; black and white

I would stand so still and silent,

Every day

And all night

They'd run fingers across me

And secrets they would share

No one would ever love me

Being a wall, I would not care

From the day that someone builds me

Til the day they tear me down

I would never shed a single tear

I would never even frown

Cold and silent

Free of life

Dense as stone

And cold as ice

Devoid of emotion

That sickening notion

No one to miss me

No one to mourn

Why be a wall?

Why even be born?

I'll just stay me

But build a wall of my own

I'll be safe behind it

On my coward's throne

Is this what I want?

So lifeless and gaunt

Maybe I'm back here,

For the protection of you

How cruel I can be,

I guess you never knew

My wall has been built

No more blood must be spilt

We are safe now
