even at four an enthusiastic young fisherman can be found -- build memories and bonds at every possible opportunity

STEPHEN MATTHEW WILSON

at FOUR YEARS OLD

Small hands oblivious to the cold,

hold tightly the wishing fishing pole;

he swings it here and there and here,

red-and-white bobber jumping far and near,

no matter how hard I try to let him know

that the rainbows won't hit if he moves it so.

Small hands oblivious to the cold,

hold tightly the fishing wishing pole,

when sudden explosion from lake to light,

a magical glistening silverwhite strike,

which small hands oblivious to the cold,

reel in, triumphant, young over old,

and drop wiggling giggling at my feet,

ten inches of oh so good to eat!
