Ball Is Life
Jacobo Monteverde

Boom Boom Boom!
The sound of the ball hitting the floor
Every dribble I take gets me closer
Closer to my future
So close where it can never leave me
The closer I get the more love I feel
As the gym gets louder
My body heat rises
Eliminating my nerves
My love increases
As I step up to the line
I remember everything we have been through
The good and the bad, highs and the lows
Thinking that this could be the end
Or it could be a new beginning
I spin the ball in my hands
Warming it up so I can end it
Looking at the rim and bending my knees
Without hesitation I shoot
As the ball rolled of the tip of my fingers
I looked up to see my life fall
Straight into the basket and back to me
Keeping me alive to continue my legacy
And ending someones life with a dagger
Bringing back mine
Some called me a murderer
And some called me their savior
It doesn’t matter what they call me
In the end I showed my love for the game
