 Softly walks the morning light,
stretching it's envious fingers
over your sleeping face,
as breaking through the window
it makes not a sound.

Though my arm about your chest
stakes a claim without a sound,
the shine blankets you in new warmth,
proving itself a better suited entity
to be given your love.

My head upon your shoulder
is a comfort I've grown to love,
and yet, I see how easy it is for
the jealous sun to take homage
just on the other side.

Watching you, as you sleep,
I wonder if I'm really all you need
or if there were a superior love,
far better than mine, to make you happy.
Just as I'm beginning to despair,
the sun sifting it's golden fingers through your hair,
you turn your back upon it's warmth
and enfold me deeper within your arms.

I can't help but gaze beyond you,
and boast a glance of victory toward
the spurned sun, as envy inflames her,
serving to remind her..
you are always mine.
