Quixotic

For JJW

I listened on as the dying poet

Rekindled several tales of lust

And forced into these fingers

Sheets of unfinished musings

And half-formed love letters.

It’s only now that I can digest

His true desire to make me

His legacy, moulding his vision

Into bounding free verse

And a lucid tome of prose.

His true desire to make me

Like him, a quixotic poet,

-  A wearer of true amour.
