This is actually a song I wrote, not a poem. It was first to be written as a love song for this contest, but I didn't meet the deadline. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Take a question and ask me

How I feel right now

As my tears drop to the ground

My whole world shatters around me

I pick up the pieces, but they fall right through my hand

I scramble around to you, but I can’t find your grasp

Tell me where you are; tell me if you’ve gone far away

If you can’t say I love you

There’s nothing left to say

The next few years will be my mother’s tears

Even though she is so dear, she will never understand

As my father tells me who to be and what to see

Will he ever know that all I want to be is understood?

I pick up the pieces, but they fall right through my hand

I scramble around to find you, but I can’t find your grasp

Tell me where you are; tell me if you’ve gone far away

If you can’t say I love you

There’s nothing left to say

They say when a man loves a woman

Or when a woman loves a man

They can live in perfect harmony, but we can’t

Just because a woman loves a women

Or when a man love another man

Does that mean we don’t deserve an equal chance?

So please tell me who put you in charge

Because I know I will always follow my heart

So why don’t you get down and pick up the pieces

While I push them right out of your hands

I hope you run around trying to find me

So I’ll make sure I won’t even be there

You’ll wander around questioning people as to where I am

This all because you couldn’t say I love you

That’s all I have to say (2x)
