The Closet

It was like I was in heaven...

..But I could still hear faintly my Nan and her bingo friends, cheering in the background. That ruined the feeling.

I sat on the edge of my bed; the texture of the duvet was a smooth silk, like settling yourself on a smooth, grassy field. It could put you to sleep. My eyes were locked onto my closet doors. It was at an opened-angle. I usually leave it open, mainly as my clothes filled so much space.

However...however...

It kept swaying, but my windows were closed shut, the air was still. Suddenly, a crystal, white glitter, poured out. Just like that. Just like magic.

And then.

Blinding my eyes, a glorious, sun-light glow, beamed from the gap. I stood up, but stumbled. Nan was always telling me to put away my exercise books. My hands started shaking as I reached out to the handle of the closet.

The room filled with a ray of gold; I smiled. Oh, if only you stood right next to me; it was like a church with a choir, heavenly singing.

Widening the door more, a blast of light swept past me; my room was a living sun. Covering my eyes with my palm, I crept my way inside, as surprisingly all my clothes in my closet had vanished.

And then I vanished.

Was this how it felt to die? I hope it was, as it was paradise. The beautiful beams of light shone upon my skin. But...that would mean...I was dead?!

The sudden thought of my existence on Earth being erased shocked me. Though, as the thoughts surrounded me, so did the darkness. No more was there, a happy atmosphere; but grey clouds swarming around, a foggy mist building up beneath me and the sky turning a fiery red.

I screamed. I ran. I hid. I cried. There was no escape.

It could be a dream. ‘Yes! It’s all just a silly dream!’ I thought to myself.

With a giggle of relief, I closed my eyes and tried to picture me sleeping, thinking it would work. But it did not.

Opening my eyes, scared to death to see what came my way and then...

And then.

...erased.
