An Ocean of Wind

Trees bend and flow
like seagrass;
long green tresses
waving
in an ocean of wind.

Swallows,
like small fishes,
dart
the gusting unseen tide,
and ride
the swirling eddies there,
feasting
on the insect plankton
of the air.

In this tidal rip
of leaves
the swinging branches
form
a wondrous canopy
of shade,
a dappled veranda
under which to walk,
hand in hand,
to swim this breeze along.
