"Go fly a kite" really is good advice, and good heart therapy too.

KITE

A windy sky it beckons me,
as I feel that tug -
that lifting tug of you
against my frame.
As you launch me into air
to climb the open sky above,
I dance the singing winds along;
aloft I sail
and never long for earth.
I have a tail that wags for me,
am tethered yet feel free.
Free to dip, and dive, and twirl
with others of my kind;
as I buffet and do tug
on your line of twisted twine.
And if I ever do break free
then all the sky is mine.

If alone I sail,
or in a crowd,
it matters not to me.
Trees I hate,
and power lines,
but give me open space –
a hill or meadow’s field –
and I will dance the singing winds along,
aloft I’ll sail with vibrant soaring grace.
But without that wind –
and you to pull –
I am only stick and rag,
laying dusty and forlorn
until you take me out again,
to dance the singing winds along.
And then for joy
I’ll play with you
as long as wind will last.

For I am Kite,
and built for this –
whether you a child or parent be,
I’ll serve you all most happily,
its all the same to me.
But if I fall to earth -
as if I’d sinned and fell from grace -
pick me up and take me home,
repair me and renew
my ability to soar
and swing upon a line,
to dance again the singing wind,
and bring some joy to you.
