Poemto an Emo

Poems,

like dormant seeds,

lie in the fallowed soil

of my life until the

Son shines upon them

and the good rain comforts them.

Some,

when writ,

succumb to the rocks and weeds of life,

or fall on barren minds, and are

devoured by the emptiness of

of fear -

dying before they fruit in you.

But others germinate, flourish and head -

grain for harvesting,

milled in your hearts

for some bread of

Life.

Spread these,

my blooded prayers,

upon the lintel

and doorposts of your heart.

Let the pestilence

of youthful angst

pass over you -

and live.

Despoil the oppressors

of your heart

and flee

your youthful sorrows.

Get up!

Get up and leave

those desert places

of the soul.

Even though your way

seems blocked,

and the enemies of life

pursue you -

Grab faith!

Grab hope! -

and cross that great divide

from childhood into

Person.

Discard the mask of

self-indulgent sadness,

lift up you head

and see -

there is more to life

than sorrowing.

Grab faith.

Grab hope.
