A tempest raging in the eye of a cyclone

Around and around she tumbled and twirled

Love and bliss wrestling despair and hate

Genius and strength portrayed as folly and want

The power within means more than she dares believe

Perception once again assumes reality

Teetering on the brink of the epiphany

She plots her schemes of guilt and fear

Maneuvers through intrigues of desperation

 Weaving spells of romance’s redemption

The unicorn enchants the serpent

Staggers against the radiance of his charms

Answers and questions playing together

Their fun a game of guesses

Reward lurks in the obvious

Its moment is nearly at hand

Then the joker steals time

Conclusions become another contest of shadows in the murk

Fate reveals that the unicorn is really a sphinx

Destiny prompts the serpent to transform himself into an eagle

He flies with her toward the hinterlands of hope and doubt

Their aerial ballet remains a spectacle of illusions

Yet the gravity of faith keeps them locked in mutual orbit

Wishes pose as truth

Dreams suggest substance

How then shall discrepancy reconcile with purpose?
