I've forgotten.
Can't believe I've forgotten.

Childhood is the dream that you
Forget when you wake
And no matter how hard you
Try to grab at it for lost memories' sake
Remember: Dreams evenesce. No matter what you do

As I watch the games unfold,
I remember stories that were told,
Of salt and land and gold.
I cry as I realise for maturity what I've sold
Warm ways exchanged for awkward and cold.

And the stories, I remember those
Either Shakespeare or fairy tales or The Nightangale and The Rose
The chapters have drawn to a close
As I realise I'm just another story they'll tell in prose
When my neurons become my own foes.

Can't remember how, can't remember why
Kids, will you remember me
If and after I die?
Will I be remembered like yesterday's sightsee
Or will I just become another memory puntuated by a late-night sigh?

I've forgotten.
Can't believe I've forgotten.
