I sprinted through the thick woods, carefully dodging the tall oak trees. As I ran swiftly through the thick brushes, I dreamed of being a bird. Elegant, quick, and free. If I were a bird I would be able to escape this fate of death and despair. My hopeless dreams were interrupted by Eric's voice, \"Jane... Jane, you can't escape. Don't make this harder than it has to be.\" I knew my odds of survival were slim, but I had to atleast try. I saw the thin stream reminding me I was almost at the street, almost into safety when all hopes of making it disappeared. They had put up a fence. I leapt up as high as I could on the fence and looked back to see if Eric was close behind. That was my mistake. In the three seconds it took to scan my surroundings for his blue blazer, Eric reached me and pulled me to the ground. \"I'm sorry, I really am,\" he said, \"But you shouldn't have been spying on me!\" And with that, I knew my life was over. I tried to scream out but I couldn't. He had covered my mouth. I bit down as hard as I could, feeling blood drip into my mouth. Eric screamed out, raised his arm, and that's when I saw it. The silver dagger, the point of the blade that would be used to end my life. Then everything went black and I faded into the darkness.
