quick park the car clock ticks fast no time to spare
check for list in purse sigh with relief that it is there
marvel at the decorations twinkling a cheerful greet
hark the carol singers braving cold out on the street
quick step toward the nearest store mustn't wander
browse counter tops so many gifts to pick n ponder
espy big swatch watch will it be fitting for uncle jim
sight a slinky pink silk scarf just right for cousin mim
would that wooden train be wee stevie's bestest toy
could that cute teddy bear give little lucy cuddly joy
cufflinks shiny should nicely brighten dear dad's shirts
track down mum's pet perfume try sniff some squirts
sexy undies for gill to dress to thrill her boyfriend phil
stock up on chocs and sweetie treats to stocking fill
last second grab for ribbons and rolls of festive wrap
rush to the tills to elbow jostle join long queue scrap
bing-bong merrily rings closure all wearily must leave
*make a note next year don't shop on christmas eve!*
