WishFish

A fish with just one wish
Swimming round and round in a dish
Not content to simply splash
No wish for a bunch of cash
This fish
With it’s one wish
Gives it away
Why, you say?
“I have it all!” says this fish with a wish given away
A chance to be human. To breath the air and walk with feet
This didn’t make the fish complete
Instead, it retreats
Why would this fish
Give away this wish?
“You worry. You fight
You scurry. You gripe
When you sneeze you forget to wipe!
Not much for love or affection
Too much obsession with objection
Not much hugging
Too little loving
Why would I
A simple fish in a dish
Wish for any of this?”
A world spent in a dish
This fish
Watches in awe
Each day as we make our way
Wanting
Nothing of it all…
When you stare at any fish
Through the gleaming glass bowl of any dish
Think of this
Are you watching it or is it watching you?
If offered a wish – would your fish reply,
“Through you my dreams have come true!”
Or would it prefer to pass on this wish
And be a simple fish in a dish
Watching in awe – the spectacle of it all
