Fugacious and swift,
An efficient hunter of the night,
A gracious winged wonder.

The great yellow eyes,
Seemingly sparking in the moonlight,
Rays glow upon its exquisite plumage.

The stunning airborne spectre,
Dancing in the night’s spotlight,
Giving life to the barren darkness.

Bearer of notorious wisdom,
And so elegant in flight,
Never burdened by imperfection.

Flaunting its aesthetic brilliance,
A performance ephemeral and rapid,
Gone before it is realised,
For it must hunt elsewhere,
And leave me alone again,
In the dismal expanses of the night.
