This is Part 1!

Friday 19th December- Draco Malfoy asked me to the Yule Ball!

My first two lessons today were Herbology with the Ravenclaws and Divination just with Slytherin. Pansy, I and the rest of the Slytherin girls’ in the 4th year walked out after Divination to the large oak tree in the middle of the school.

“Who’s going to the Yule Ball?” Pansy asked, looking around the girls. All of us said “Yeah.”

To this Pansy replied, “Who’s everyone going with?” Only 5 of us had dates, but Pansy, Clare, Sapphire, Lilly and I hadn’t and we only had 6 days to go. Pansy swore she didn’t fancy Draco anymore and I was ready to ask him.

“Um… well, I kinda wanted to go with Draco.” I mumbled quietly.

“You should totally ask him!” They all screamed at once. It felt like half the school had turned around to look at us. I went so red. Draco was walking past some Gryffindor 3rd years with his gang of friends and I don’t think he heard us.

“Hayley…Guess what we’ve got next?” Pansy said excitedly. I had no idea, but everyone else seemed to know.

“WE’VE GOT POTIONS!” They all screamed and they all started jumping up and down. I was the only one who kept their feet firmly on the ground. Then it hit me. Potions. I sat next to Draco in Potions. What a perfect time to ask him. The only problem was we have potions with Gryffindor and over the last few days I have had a lot of Gryffindor boys ask me to the dance, I’d told them I already had a date. I just had to make this really discreet and hope no one in Gryffindor found out about this.

“Right Hayley,” whispered Pansy when we were walking over to potions “I really don’t mind if you ask him, I’m totally over him.”

“I know.” I replied. I still think she has feelings for him, but I wasn’t going to disagree with her.

Pansy stopped in-front of the door of the dungeon blocking Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley from going in.

“Excuse me.” Hermione said as she tried to get pass us, but Pansy pushed her back. Draco and his friends came round the corner at that moment.

“They giving you trouble girls?” he asked us. Harry pushed past me, as he did he knocked me against the door. Draco walked past us smiling and pulled Harry’s robe and push him against the wall.

“Where do you think you’re going, Potter?” he threatened. Snape came through the entrance of the dungeon and told them to sit down. He took 50 points away from Gryffindor. They started to complain about what had happened. That is the Gryffindor way; complain when they get told off.

Pansy sits at the desk next to mine and Draco’s with Crabbe. I applied some of my cherry-flavoured lip-gloss and then turned to face Draco. He had just finished talking to Goyle, who sat behind us. I looked at Pansy and mouthed ‘Do I look okay?’ She nodded her head and told me to talk to him.

I turned back and he smiled at me which was what I was hoping for. I started to listen to what Professor Snape was telling us about an antidote potion we had to make.

“Your hair looks great. What did you do to it?” Draco asked.

“Oh, nothing.” I said as I added some Dragon’s blood to the antidote.

“Um…I was just wandering if you’re a pure blood?” he asked with his head down as he concentrated on cutting up a frog.

“Yeah, as far back as my family goes.” I replied. I’m in Slytherin; of course I’m a pure-blood I thought to myself.

“Oh, OK.”

I quickly turned to Pansy and whispered “He just asked me if I was a pure-blood!” To which she replied “You did say yes didn’t you? And what sort of question is that?” She replied, sometimes boys can be really thick. “Of course I said yes.” Gosh! I felt the same way as any other normal, complete pure-blooded wizard did about mud-bloods and blood-traitors.

I turned back. I had wasted nearly the entire lesson, but at least Draco had nearly finished the antidote, he was adding the last thing right now. He looked at me and smiled. I smiled back.

“Do you want to have lunch with me today? You can bring Pansy if you like?” He just asked me to lunch. I could scream (in a good way).

“Yeah, ok, sure.” I quickly said, just so he didn’t have time to change his mind. The bell went for the end of lesson and we started to leave the classroom.

“What have you got next?” Draco asked me whilst we battled our way out.

“Ancient Runes” I said glumly.

“Oh, I’ve got Transfiguration.” He sounded quite sad, like he wanted to have Ancient Runes with me or it could be he hated Transfiguration. “Bye, then. See you at lunch.” He smiled and walked off with his gang of friends to Transfiguration and I walked with Pansy to Ancient Runes, we took the same classes, because we wanted to stay together.

I told Pansy everything that had happened in potions. We kept giggling, no one was too happy about that, but we didn’t get told off.

“After all of that, he asked me to lunch.” I screamed. Everyone turned around and gave us the evils. “And you can come to.” I told Pansy.

“Hayley you didn’t have to ask if I could come,” She complained.

“He invited you.” I couldn’t stop smiling. The bell rang and we packed our books away, we hadn’t done much work throughout the whole lesson. Pansy and I ran out of the classroom and down to lunch. To find Draco outside the Great Hall leaning against the wall; waiting for us. He had something in his hands and kept looking around, probably for us. We walked up to him.

“Hi girls, you never guess what I did?” Draco said.

“I overheard Longbottom talking to another Gryffindor and I found out the Gryffindor password, so I found Potter’s bed and broke into his trunk. He’s got an invisibility cloak and the Marauder’s map. My father’s told me all about this map and how to get it to work. I also found us a way into Hogsmeade. So, who fancies lunch in the 3 broomsticks?”

We all got under the invisibility cloak and set off, Draco leading the way. He got us through the secret passageway and we turned up in Honeyduke’s sweetshop. We took off the cloak in Hogsmeade and had our lunch at the 3 broomsticks.

“Do you know what our next lesson is?” I asked.

“Defence against the dark arts.” Pansy replied slipping a butter-beer, she looked quickly at her watch and screamed. “Oh my God! We’ve got 5 minutes to get to class!”

“Why don’t you take the cloak and map and get your way back to school.” Draco suggested to Pansy.

“OK!” Pansy said. I think she got the message that we needed to be alone. She grabbed the map and cloak and ran to Honeyduke’s sweet shop.

“Um… Hayley I wanted to ask you something…but I wasn’t sure if I should.” He said. “Do you want to go to the ball with me?”

“Yes.” I said, smiling. I couldn’t believe he asked me.

“OK.” he asked starting to stand up. I immediately stood up as well. We walked out the 3 broomsticks, we didn’t care that we were going to be late to Defence against the Dark Arts. We walked out of town and he stopped.

“Do you think Moody will mind if we’re late?” I asked, a bit of a stupid question, of course he would.

“Don’t worry about it. Wouldn’t you rather be here with me than in that class? Plus Moody is creepy.” He said, probably thinking back to the time not long ago when Professor Moody turned Draco into a ferret when he tried to curse Potter.

“Yeah, of course.” I replied. I was still worried about being late for class, but it really didn’t matter.

The snow started to fall slowly and we looked up to find a tree with mistletoe hanging down above us. We looked at each other. Draco leaned in and softly kissed me.

We walked on talking about different things like our dislike for mud-bloods like Hermione Granger; she would be a great friend if: she wasn’t a mud-blood, if she didn’t have those horrible teeth like a beaver and if she was in Slytherin.

Suddenly an owl landed in-front of us and it had a letter attached to its leg. We walked towards the owl and took the letter off its leg. Draco dropped the letter.

“It’s a howler!”

“What should we do? Open it?” I asked looking worried. I had never received a howler before and didn’t know what to do. Draco picked it up and opened it. It started to scream at us. It turned out to be from Harry Potter.

Right, Malfoy. Give me my cloak and map back. I know it was you, because being dumb as you are, you didn’t look around the room to find Ron hiding while you took my stuff. Oh and by the way, I know that you fancy Hayley North and I’m going to tell her tomorrow, if you don’t give them back.”

“Oh no, my girlfriend is going to find out that I fancy her!” Draco said in a sarcastic tone. I laughed.

“Send him a howler back.” I suggested.

“Nah, I’ll let him tell you, it will just make him look like an idiot.” We started walking back up to the castle, lessons had just finished and we found the cloak and map at the end of the secret passageway. We walked back into the main building of the school and we back to the Slytherin common room.

“Pure-blood.” Draco said and the common room door opened. Pansy, Clare, Sapphire and Lily were waiting for me. Just to show off he pulled me towards him and snogged me, to which all the boys in the common room wolf whistled.

He smiled at me and walked off to his gang of friends. I walked swiftly to my seat at the table where my best friends were sat.

“Hayley, you asked him?” They said at the same time, which was kinda freaky, but I answered all the same.

“No. He asked me!” I replied. I couldn’t stop smiling. All my friends squealed with happiness. It was 6:30 and we decided to go down to the Great Hall for dinner. As I went out the common room doors Draco was waiting for me.

“Hey, you know what I was saying about letting Potter tell you and you make him look like a total idiot, well I’ve changed my mind.” He said walking with me along to the Great Hall.

“What you mean just tell him?” I asked stupidly.

“Not exactly, just walk into the hall with me and play along.” He whispered to me and I nodded. We had just got to the Great Hall and he put his arm around me. Harry, Ron and Hermione were already in the Great Hall and were staring at us.

“Hey Potter,” Draco shouted, “Got a date to the dance yet?” Harry didn’t look happy that we had beaten him to it.

Ron was the one to speak. “Shove off Malfoy! What did you do to North then? Pay her? Curse her? What?”

“You only say that, because you don’t have a date.” I replied, “Where did you get your dress robes anyway, Weasley? Were they passed down from your great-grandparents or were they from a second- hand robe shop?” Ron went redder than his hair and the whole Slytherin table was laughing. I think I even saw Snape give a small smile. Draco and I walked to our seats on the Slytherin table. Students were still pouring in through the doors of the Great Hall.

When everyone was seated Professor Dumbledore stood up and gave a few notices, then the food appeared on the golden plates in front of us.

After everyone was full with the main meal, the desserts appeared in front of us. When we were waiting for everyone else to finish their desserts, we all got talking about how Potter cheated to get his name into the Goblet to be selected to be a champion in the Tri-Wizard Tournament.

We got up to go and Draco put his arm around me and when we got outside the Great Hall he snogged me again at the perfect moment, as Harry, Ron and Hermione were walking out of the Great Hall. They walked past pretending that they hadn’t noticed, but we could hear them talking about us.

“Keep your tongues to yourselves, Mr Malfoy, Miss North.” Professor McGonagall had stopped outside the Great Hall. She was just behind Harry, Ron and Hermione. They started laughing; we shot them evil glares and walked on, Draco’s arm still around me.

“Pure-blood.” Draco said, the common room door opened and there was a sofa free, so we sat down. Pansy ran over to us and said “Hey, in the Great Hall, I looked over at Longbottom and he was staring at you.” She looked at Draco. “You better do something about that.” It was only 8 o’clock; Neville would have gone to the library. The amount of times I had seen him walk in there after dinner was kinda weird; he was nearly in there as many times as Hermione was.

“Come on then.” Draco said to me as he pulled me up off the sofa. We exited the common room and walked to the library. We went in and looked for Neville. We saw him in the Herbology section reading a book called ‘Herbs: Europe and Asia.

“What do you think you’re playing at?” Draco shouted at Neville, he looked as though he was about to cry. I saw something move behind a shelf of books near us. I tugged on Draco’s robe; he kept on shouting at Neville.

“I…didn’t…”he stuttered.

“Never look at my girlfriend again!” Draco threatened. The thing behind the shelf moved again and it shouted something, Draco flew back and hit the wall behind him. I ran over to him. Neville stood up.

“I didn’t do it Hayley, I’ll…I’ll get someone.” He said as he ran off out of the library. I knelt beside Draco. He had blood coming out from a huge cut in his head and he was whimpering in pain. The thing I had seen from behind the shelf came out, it was a hooded figure. I got out my wand and told it to say back.

“Get out of my way.” It threatened in a low, hissy voice. I didn’t move. Professor Dumbledore and a few other teachers came through the doors of the library. The hooded figure had disappeared when they came through the door and I was already in tears. Neville was scared to go near me, because Draco could wake up at any moment.I stayed at the hospital wing all night beside Draco.

Saturday 20th December-The worst day of my life!

In the morning Draco had fully recovered. “Hayley…Hayley!” he said trying to wake me. It turns out I had slept in till 11:30.

“Sit on my bed.” He commanded with a warm smile on his face. His white-blonde hair looked perfect and other than a small cut on his head he looked perfect. I started to cry. “Don’t cry, come on.” I looked up into his eyes and felt a bit better. At that moment Neville walked in.

“Hope you don’t want to steal my girlfriend from me while I’m injured!” Draco told Neville.

“No, I just wanted to talk to her.” He replied in a quiet voice, looking at me.

“I’ll only be a minute.” I told Draco, he nodded reluctantly. I walked out of the hospital wing with Neville.

“What?” I asked.

“Um… I just wanted you to know I didn’t do it. You were so busy crying over Malfoy that I thought you thought it was me.” Neville muttered.

“I know Neville.” I replied putting my hand on his shoulder. “Don’t worry about it.” I smiled and went to walk back inside the hospital wing when Neville stopped me. “What?” I asked. He was looking up at the ceiling; I followed his gaze until I saw a bunch of mistletoe hanging above us. Our eyes met.

“Should we?” Neville asked.

“I’m sorry, but-”I began, but it was too late, he had kissed me. I pulled away quickly and started crying,I ran off to the girls’ toilets, where I saw Hermione. I ran into a cubical and locked it, not wanting her to see me like this.

“Hayley? What’s wrong?” Hermione asked I could see her feet outside my cubical. I unlocked the cubical and walked out. “What happened? Was it something about Malfoy?”“Sort of, Neville wanted to talk to me away from Draco so I went and he, he-” I started to cry again. Hermione was hugging and comforting me, which is more than anyone else would do. “Well, he kissed me.” I muttered. She gasped.“Why? Does he want a death sentence?” Hermione wondered. “That’s why you ran here? You didn’t want to face either of them?” She asked. I nodded and cried harder. “Right, come with me.”

Hermione frogmarched me out of the girls’ bathroom and to the Gryffindor common room. She took me up to her dormitory were she wiped my face as my make-up was running down my face and re-did it using some really good muggle stuff. She re-did my hair, because I hadn’t brushed it since yesterday morning. I looked much better and had managed to stop crying but I still felt horrible. It was 12 o’clock now and Hermione and I were walking back down to the hospital wing.

“Right, you just got to tell him the truth, but try to make sure he doesn’t want to kill Neville.” This was what Hermione said before I went to tell Draco what had happened.“You know, you’re really nice. I’ll try and make them all stop calling you a mud-blood.” I replied. Then I braved it into the hospital wing. I heard a lot of shouting coming from Draco and as I wasn’t in view yet I stopped. I heard Neville’s voice and my heart stopped for a few seconds, because I was so scared. I walked up to them. They both turned to see me. Neville was un-usually pale and Draco was going a tiny bit pink after all the shouting. It went quiet, but I kept walking towards them.

“Draco, I didn’t want to. He just did it and I pulled away as quickly as I could.” I explained.“Malfoy, I already explained. It’s not her fault!” Neville told him.“Hayley… What happened?” Draco asked.“Um…Well, when we went outside he told me that it wasn’t his fault that you ended up here and he just wanted to explain that… Then I was about to walk back and he stopped me. There was mistletoe, so Neville asks me if we should kiss. So I told him that i was with you, but he already kissed me. I thought you would hate me…” I began to cry.

“Right, just keep away from my girlfriend, like I said last night.” Draco warned. I was still crying, Neville walked out and the door shut behind him.“I’m sorry. I’ll go now…” I said as I began to walk out. I knew this whole thing was partly my fault but I just had to run away from it now. I walked through the doors and back to the Slytherin common room.“Pure-Blood.” I walked to my dormitory and I laid on my bed and cried. I was there all day and didn’t go to lunch or dinner. At 8:00 I walked to the haunted girls’ toilets, Hermione was there again.

“Hey,” Hermione turned to look at me, she was being kind to me not like the rest of the school. At the moment all the Slytherin's hated me and the Gryffindor's were just being sympathic, because they knew what I was going though. But I didn't dare go to near Neville or Draco. I just wanted to stay with Hermione, she was the one of the only people left who were still being nice to me.

“Didn’t see you in the Great Hall. I thought I would bring you some sandwiches, hope you like jam.” She said as she handed them over. I smiled, but it didn’t last long. I took a small bite out of one of the sandwiches, but i didn't feel like eating. “Pansy was asking about you, I heard her from the Slytherin table. Neville wasn’t in the Great Hall either just in case you came down; he didn’t want to have a fight with Malfoy.”

“What should I do? I told him the truth and I don’t think he likes me anymore and the whole of Slytherin hates me.” I asked. Why was she so kind to me, when I was always so horrible to her before?“I think you should talk to Malfoy, just to sort things out.” Hermione replied with a small smile on her face.

“Thanks,” I said standing up, that's all I needed to hear. “I’ve got to go. See you later.” I ran to the door and pulled it open, there was quite a long walk to back to the Slytherin common room and I needed something to say to Draco. I’m sorry about what happened, but can we still be friends. That will have to do, because i was at the door.

“Pure-blood.” I said as I approached the picture frame that concealed the common room behind it. The picture frame opened and I saw my fellow Slytherin class mates and they were all looking at me as the door opened. Pansy, Clare, Lilly and Sapphire ran to me along with a load of other Slytherin girls in our year. Pansy and Sapphire walked me to our room, Lilly and Clare were just behind us.

“What the hell happened to you?” Pansy shouted as I sat down on my bed.“Is it true you kissed Longbottom?” Lilly asked; she looked kind of freaked out. They all did.“What have people been saying?” I asked completely confused at what had just happened.“Well, at dinner Potter told everyone that you and Longbottom kissed. Then Draco got all annoyed and walked out to find Neville. Then no one could find you and when you walked in everyone wanted to know if all this was true.” Clare explained.“So is it true?” Sapphire asked sitting on the end of my bed. I started to cry and buried my head in my pillow. I didn’t want them to look at me like this, although I did have water-proofmascara on, so it wouldn’t run down my face. “Oh! It is true, isn’t it?” Sapphire said. I cried even harder into my pillow.“I’ll get Draco.” Lilly said as she walked to the door. Pansy got in front of her.“No! We don’t need a load of boys coming up here to watch Hayley cry.” Clare warned, Lilly saw sense and walked back to the chair she was sitting on. I stopped crying and stood up.

“Right, I’m going. DON’T follow me!” I declared as I reached the door. I pulled out the invisibility cloak, which we still hadn't given back to Potter, from my pocket in my robes and pulled it over me. I slowly walked down the stairs and walked past a bunch of people.

“Yeah, apparently she put the mistletoe there…”

“North actually told Malfoy that she was going to talk to Longbottom and said she would only be a minute…What a liar!”

I walked up to the boys dormitories and most of the doors were open. I looked into the 6th one I found and saw Crabbe and Goyle standing in front of a bed. I heard a familiar voice which belonged to Draco. I took of the invisibility cloak and stood, leaning against the door. Crabbe and Goyle turned to look at the door, their mouths fell open and Draco looked around the wardrobe that was in the way of him seeing me.

“Hayley! Um…Get out,” he was addressing Crabbe and Goyle. They walked past me and I walked in.“So, what happened?” I heard myself asking. “You know, at dinner.”

“Um… Haven’t you heard already?” he asked back, he didn’t look as angry as I thought he would, but he didn’t look very pleased to see me.“No, I’ve been in my bed crying all day and when I did come out I went to see Hermione, because she’s the only one who will listen to what I have to say.” I exclaimed as I sat on a chair close by Draco’s bed.“Well, if you want to know…” he began.“Of course I want to know. I won’t ask otherwise.” I replied interrupting him.

“After you left the hospital wing I was allowed to leave. I walked down to lunch and Neville had told Potter, Weasley and Granger. Granger didn’t look at all surprised but Potter and Weasley laughed at me as I walked to our table. After that I went to the common room and up here. I was thinking about what I was going to do. At dinner Potter decided it would be funny to tell everyone that you and Longbottom kissed. I ran out to find Neville and… let’s just say he’s in the hospital wing.” He finished. I must have looked shocked because he asked me what was wrong.

“What did you do to Neville?” I asked.“Oh, nothing serious. He came up in boils and kept puking up frogs last time I saw him.” Draco said as though he hadn’t done anything wrong at all. Well, if it was nothing serious I guess I shouldn’t worry, after all he is the reason Draco and I are the topic of gossip.“Oh, OK.” I answered. “So, I better go. I just wanted to know what happened.” I started to walk towards the door.“No, stay.” Draco exclaimed. I turned around. “I still want to go to the dance with you. I know it wasn’t your fault he kissed you.” I smiled, he smiled.“Well, thanks. I’ve got to go down to the kitchens, because I’m starving.” I said“I’ll come with you!” he added quickly.“Ok, come on.” I replied.

He opened the door and I walked through. I picked up the invisibility cloak which I had left on the windowsill, I covered ourselves with it and we walked down the stairs. He put his arms around my waist and we walked out of the common room with a bunch of 1st years. I led Draco to the picture of the fruit; I tickled the pear and walked through. We took off the cloak and walking into the kitchen. The house-elves gave us a freshly made salad, a few cakes and two goblets of pumpkin juice. We thanked them and climbed out of the passage to the kitchen. We didn’t bother with the invisibility cloak and walked down to the rocks by the whomping willow. The rocks created a shelter and we sat beneath them. Draco and I talked a lot and I didn’t feel as hungry as I did earlier on. Draco had one of my cakes and I left half my salad. I did a disappearing spell on the left-over food and it started to snow again. I began to feel really cold. Draco gave me his jacket to put over my shoulders and I felt instantly warmer. I rested my head on his shoulder. I looked up at him and he was looking at me. It was getting really dark and the only light was from mine and Draco’s wand. I straightened up and he looked into my eyes. He leaned in and I moved in closer. We kissed each other. I put my arms around his neck and I felt like nothing had happened between me and Neville, it was perfect. His arms were around my waist and he pulled me in even further.

At 11:00 I became really tired. We started to walk back to the common room covered in Potter’s invisibility cloak. We walked to the end of a corridor and I looked up at the wall. We walked up to a pair of huge metal doors and Draco pushed on them. The huge door opened and inside was a massive bedroom. I walked in and Draco shut the doors behind us. I ran to the bed and sat on it. Draco then sat on the bed beside me.

“Where are we?” I asked looking around at our surroundings.“I don’t know.” He replied.“I think we should go!” I stated, sounding worried as I had no clue what-so-ever where we were and it had just appeared right in front of us as we were walking back to the common room.“Why? You said you were tired so now you have a bed. It’s either this or walking another 5 minutes back to your dormitory to have everyone ask you questions and stuff.” He told me and as he did the mysterious room seemed more and more welcoming. It’s not like we had to get up earlier the next day for lessons and I could spin a lie about where I was.

“Yeah, let’s stay!” I agreed as I laid down on the bed.

Sunday 21st December- Getting my Dress!

I woke up the next morning wondering where I was. I was still resting on Draco when I woke up and he was already awake. It was Sunday morning and I only had 4 days to get the perfect dress for the upcoming dance. I was glad I was going with Draco, but I thought I wouldn't look good enough. Everything about me had to be perfect.

Draco and I put on the invisibility cloak and opened the gigantic doors that stood before us. We walked into the corridor and up to the Slytherin common room, before taking off the cloak. I snuck up to bed without waking anyone up and quickly glanced over at my clock which had a picture of Pansy, Clare, Lilly, Sapphire and I next to it, we were all smiling in a big huddle. I was in the middle with Pansy by my side, Lilly was next to Pansy and Clare was next to me, Sapphire is the tallest and she stood behind Pansy and I. We were all nudging each other and laughing with big smiles across our faces. This picture was taken in our 3rd year, we have all changed a bit since then, but we are still recognisable. It was 8:00 and I decided I would get an extra hour or so more sleep. As I drifted off to sleep, I had thoughts of last night on my mind.

I was woken up by Pansy at 11:00, she hadn’t got a dress either and she wanted me to come with her when she got her dress. I quickly got out of bed.“Why are you still wearing yesterday’s clothes?” she asked as she looked up and down at what I was wearing.“I got in and it was quite late and I was really tired and couldn’t be bothered to change into my PJ’s.” I replied almost too quickly trying to make up an excuse.I went into the bathroom with my new clothes that I brought 2 weekends ago. I had a mini skirt with leggings, I wore a black vest top and I put a little black jacket on top just so I wouldn’t get cold and my black heel boots. I put my usual make-up on and did my hair in a side fishtail plait, before picking up my handbag which had100 Galleons inside. I wanted a perfect dress and I was willing to pay a lot for it.

“Come on!” Pansy said, she was edging towards the door, she was ready to go and I don’t think she wanted to hang around. We ran down the stairs and through the school. We got to Hogsmeade and asked a local shop owner if we could use his fire-place and flu-powder. After that we walked into Diagon Alley and we went to Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions.

“Ah!” she declared as she walked towards us. “You’ll need those over there.” She saidpointing to a large selection of fabulous dresses of different sizes and colours. We gasped and thanked Madam Malkin. Pansy had picked up about 20 dresses and was ready to try them on. I had picked up about the same amount and walked into the changing room next to hers.

“All these dresses come with Do-Up charms!” Madam Malkin shouted as she walked past our changing rooms to help a wizard who was looking for robes for his daughter’s wedding. We soon found out what a Do-Up charm was, because as I stepped into my first dress, which was a lovely, long lavender coloured dress it zipped the back of the dress up. I opened the door and saw Pansy with her first dress on. It was a light blue dress with matching gloves. We both looked really beautiful in these dresses, but decided that these dresses weren’t for us.

“I love the lace-up at the back but I don’t think that shade of purple suits you.” Pansy stated as I gave a little twirl.“Yeah, I agree. It looked better on the hanger. Plus I don’t like the straps.” I replied. “I like your dress. The only thing I would say is that the detail is a bit too much for you.” I suggested. She agreed. We walked back into the changing rooms and we kept trying on different dresses and there was always something wrong with them. Pansy had just found her perfect dress. It was a short light pink dress; it was a zip-up and a halter-neck. It was 60 Galleons, her shoes were 15 Galleons and her budget was 80 Galleons, so she was happy as she had extra money for a necklace.I had about 5 dresses left and the next one I put on was a darker purple than the 1st one I had tried on. It had little creases on the left side and was quite short, just above my knees. It was a lace-up dress; it didn’t have any straps and had a few layers underneath. I walked out of the changing room and Pansy gasped.

“It looks beautiful!” she cried. Madam Malkin walked in to see what Pansy had gasped at. She took one look at me and smiled.“That is amazing,” she agreed with Pansy. “I have the perfect shoes for that dress.” She walked out and came back with a pair of high heels that were the same shade of purple as the dress, they had little diamonds on them and looked perfect. I slipped on the heel and waked around.“You can’t trip or fall in them either.” Madam Malkin stated as I began to walk around in them. I looked in the mirror and imagined myself with my hair and make-up done perfectly. It was the best dress I had ever seen and it was sold. The dress was 80 Galleons and the shoes were 20 Galleons. Madam Malkin said she would have the dresses sent by special delivery to our dormitory. I had the perfect accessories for this dress at home; I’d ask my mum to send them to me by owl before Christmas.

We used Madam Malkin’s fire place and flu-powder to get back to Hogsmeade; we were talking and giggling all the way back to the Slytherin common room. It was 5:30 by the time we got back and Lilly, Clare and Sapphire wanted to know what our dresses looked like.“Well, my dress is light pink, quite short, and it’s amazing. But not as good as Hayley’s dress!” Pansy cried excitedly.“What does yours look like?” Lilly asked. Clare and Sapphire were listening intently.“It’s gorgeous! It’s purple and quite short and its strap-less. It’s a lace-up dress and had a few layers underneath. It has a matching pair of shoes and they match the dress perfectly. It’s AMAZING!!!” I revealed. Their mouths were open with dis-belief.

As 6:00 drew closer we started to leave. I remembered that I hadn’t told any of my friends the news about Draco.“Um… Guys, Draco and I made up.” I said with a smile covering my face.“That’s great!” They cried.“So, what happened with the Longbottom situation?” Clare asked me.“Oh, well Draco said it wasn’t my fault and it’s not like I wanted to kiss Longbottom anyway.” I replied.

We walked down the steps to the Slytherin common room, I saw Draco and he walked over to me, we kissed and we all walked down to the Great Hall.“I haven’t seen you all day,” Draco stated the obvious.“Yeah, I was doing some...stuff.” I replied.“OK, because some of my friends were in Diagon Alley today and they looked through the window of Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions and saw two girls who were trying on dresses.” He described. I went a little red and carried on walking.“Yeah, I saw them as well; they were wearing really nice dresses.” I played along, although I already knew he was talking about me and Pansy. We had reached the Great Hall and Draco put his arm around me, again. Neville looked up and saw me; he looked away quite quickly when Draco turned to look at the Gryffindor table. We took our seats and after a few words from Professor Dumbledore, we began eating.

It was 7:30 when we arrived back at the common room. Pansy dragged me upstairs to our dormitory to find our dresses on our beds. I carefully picked up mine and put it carefully in my wardrobe. The shoes were in a box with a design that said Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions on it; I took these off my bed and put these at the bottom of my wardrobe on top of all my other shoe boxes. We went back down to the common room and I sat with Draco who had saved me a space on the sofa near the fireplace. Sapphire had a few boxes of Every Flavour Beans, she gave a box to Draco and I to share, a box to Lilly and Clare and a box for Pansy and her to share. Lilly got a blood flavoured one and I got a cabbage flavoured one. We stayed up till midnight talking about today’s events. Draco had been into Hogsmeade for the day with Crabbe and Goyle. Lilly, Clare and Sapphire had been to the library to do some of their homework.

Finally, we went to bed. I kept thinking about the dress I had brought that day and how great I would look at the Yule Ball in a few days’ time. I opened the wardrobe to have a look at it and something jumped out at me and they had their wand out, pointed at me...

Monday 22nd December- Why do boys have to fight over me?

“AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!” I screamed loudly. I must have woken the entire castle. Pansy, Clare, Lilly and Sapphire jumped out of bed and looked around the room. They saw me at the door of my wardrobe.“Someone jumped out at me! I think they were going to…” I had started to cry, I was so frightened and I wouldn’t blame anyone in my situation to cry. I could have been killed! They all walked me down to the common room, most of the house must have been there. Draco ran up to me. I had tears running down my face.“What’s wrong? Did someone hurt you?” he asked looking really angry. His bleach blonde hair was in a mess. I continued to cry. At that moment Professor Snape walked in with Professor Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall and a lot of other teachers were behind them but I was blinded by tears.

“What’s happened?” Professor Snape asked he was clearly not impressed.“Now, Now. We don’t need to shout. What’s happened Miss North?” Professor Dumbledore asked with a kind look on his face.“I…I…” I began, but nothing came out of my mouth. I was still crying.“She, well, I was asleep at the time, but someone jumped out of her wardrobe and like, had their wand out and pointed at her. Then she screamed and they just went.” Pansy told them. Draco and the other girls were trying to comfort me.“Right, everyone go down to the Great Hall.” Dumbledore said. “All heads of houses bring your entire house down to the Great Hall; you will all be sleeping there tonight. Hayley, Draco and Pansy come with me.”

Draco, Pansy and I walked behind Dumbledore. Draco’s arm was a round me and I had calmed down a bit, however I was still in shock. Pansy walked beside us and was trying to reassure me that everything was going to be OK. We entered Professor Dumbledore’s office.

“Please, sit down.” He instructed us. We immediately sat on the closest chairs to us. “Hayley, I want you to tell me exactly what you did today, right from when you woke up this morning.” He couldn’t ask me a different question, could he.“Well, when I woke up this morning I, um, Pansy woke me up. We went into Hogsmeade and then into Diagon Alley. Pansy and I went into Madam Malkin’s; we picked out a dress each for the dance. Then we walked back up to school from Hogsmeade and went into the common room. We went to dinner and then Pansy and I went up to our dormitory and found our dresses and shoes on our beds, because Madam Malkin sent them to us, so we didn’t get them wet or dirty before the Yule Ball. Then we went back down to the common room for a while and then we went up to bed. After everyone else was asleep I went to have a look at my dress, just to check on it, and that’s when…” I started to cry and Draco comforted me.

“OK. Are you sure that’s exactly what you did today?” Dumbledore asked me as I was crying into Draco.“Are you saying that you don’t believe her? After what has happened tonight?” Draco asked him.“No, not at all.” Dumbledore answered. “It’s just that something that she could have done today could be the reason this has happened. Not that I am suggesting that it was her fault that this has happened.” They were talking about me like I wasn’t even in the room and couldn’t hear a word they were saying.“You may go down to the Great Hall now, I just want to talk to Pansy for a minute, and if you want you may wait outside.” He stood up and gestured towards the door which had just open. We stood up and walked through the door and back down to the Great Hall.

“Thanks for saying that.” I thanked Draco once the door closed behind us.“Don’t worry about it. Are we waiting for Pansy?” Draco asked putting his arms around me.“Yeah, is that OK?” I asked back.“Yeah, sure.” He said as he leaned in to kiss me. The door suddenly opened and Pansy walked out. We immediately let go of each other and stood against the walk.

“Come on, you can’t fool me!” Pansy exclaimed. “I don’t mind.” And at that I put my arms around his neck and snogged him again.“Are you sure you don’t mind?” I asked Pansy as we walked along the corridor to the Great Hall.“Pretty sure.” She replied, we turned into the Great Hall. There were loads of sleeping bags on the floor, their colours representing the 4 houses. We walked over to the last three sleeping-bags left next to each other. I took the middle one and Pansy and Draco took the ones beside me. I turned over to look at Draco; he had moved his sleeping-bag closer to mine.

“Hi.” He whispered.“Hi.” I whispered back, I laughed, talk about awkward convocation.“Love you.” He whispered. He was smiling at me. I smiled back.“Love you too.” I moved over a bit more so now we were only a few centimetres away from each other. He leaned in to kiss me again, but…

“Get away from her Malfoy!” It was Neville who had woken up half of Gryffindor and Slytherin, the other houses were started to wake up by the commotion Neville has caused.“Oh go away Longbottom.” Pansy complained as she was woken by this.“No,” Neville declared. “I love Hayley.” Draco, Pansy and I stood up.“I told you to keep away from Hayley,” Draco warned.“What you going to do then?” Neville questioned. “Accio Hayley.” I flew over to Neville’s side.“Accio Hayley.” Draco shouted. I flew over his side.“Accio Hayley.” Neville shouted. I flew over to his side again.

“Stop this at once!” It was Professor McGonagall. The boys stopped and I ran over to Pansy. “50 points from Slytherin and Gryffindor.” Both houses groaned in annoyance, although Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw were laughing at us. “Everyone go back to sleep.” When McGonagall had left Neville started to walk away.“Where do you think you’re going, Longbottom? No one does that to my girlfriend?” Draco yelled. I ran out of the Great Hall and Pansy followed.

Once we were out of there Pansy asked me what i was going to do. “You can’t let this go on, by the end of the year we will be on minus points and they will be using unforgivable curses on each other.”

“I love Draco, so I’m always going to be on his side.” I decided. I had a feeling that someone was behind me. I turned around to see Professor Snape.“So, what’s going on here?” he asked. He had an evil smile on his face as if he had just heard something he wasn’t meant to hear. Oh yeah, he had.“Um… We were just… um, going to the toilet.” Pansy explained. “Got to go, bye.” Snape turned around as we walked past him.“Not so fast.” We turned back around to face Snape. He had a vile in his hand that contained a clear liquid. “Do you know what this is?” We both shook our heads. “Well, does one of you mind having a sip?”

“What will happen to us if we do take a sip?” Pansy asked.“Um… you will be able to read minds.”“I’ll have some!” we both said at the same time; however I needed that vile so much more. Snape put his hand into his robe and pulled out another vile. He handed the viles to us and we drank the whole thing. I felt all tingly and I just came out with the most bizarre thing.

“I’m going to the Yule Ball with Draco Malfoy!” I had a wide smile across my face. I couldn’t believe what I had just said, why did Snape need to know that?“I still love Draco Malfoy and hate it that Hayley’s going with him.” Pansy stated. She gasped and started whispering to herself.“Well, then girls. Can you tell me why you are out this late at night?” Snape asked us. I decided to answer, mainly because Pansy was in a bit of a shock.“Well, Draco and Neville had a fight and kept saying ‘Accio Hayley,” and I flew from Neville to Draco and back again. It turns out that Neville Longbottom loves me and I’m going out with Draco, so he got overprotective of me and-”

“I don’t need to know that!” Snape shouted.“Well, you don’t need to get all stroppy. What do you want to know then?” I asked. Pansy was still muttering secrets to herself. I would have found it very amusing if I wasn’t under this truth potion as well.“Why are you out here?” Snape asked again.“As I was saying they had a fight and the whole school was woken by it and we came out here, Pansy followed me coz she wanted to know what I was going to do about this whole situation. Because we’ve already lost 50 points tonight and Draco and Neville will probably try and kill each other by the end of the year.” I finished without any more interruptions from Snape.

“Thank you.” Snape said. “I’ll give you a secretive potion and you will return to your normal self and if you don’t the potions will have worn of my tomorrow morning anyway. Good night ladies.” He handed me and Pansy another vile and we walked back into the Great Hall. Neville and Draco had finished fighting and had gone to sleep. Pansy and I got into our sleeping bags and went to sleep.

Tuesday 23rd December- New Rooms!

I woke up the next morning at 9:30, I sat up and looked around most of the sleeping bags had no owners and there was no sign of Pansy, Draco or anyone I knew.I got out of my sleeping bag and walked back to the Slytherin common room. I was only about 20 foot away from the common room when I turned the corner and saw everyone surrounding the entrance. I ran towards the crowd and pushed my way to the door. There was a sign on the picture frame that said: The Slytherin common room is out of bounds until we find the culprit of last night’s events. First and Second years of Slytherin house will be put in Hufflepuffs’ dormitories’. Third and Fourth years will be put in Gryffindors’ dormitories and Fifth, Sixth and Seventh years will be put in Ravenclaws’ dormitories.

Pansy, Clare, Lilly and Sapphire pushed past the crowd to join me.“Come on then, the Gryffindor prefects are outside their common room waiting for the rest of us. Draco’s already there, along with Crabbe, Goyle and Blaize. Let’s go then.” Pansy told me.“What about my stuff? What am I meant to wear?” I asked, I felt really confused and all this was my fault.“Our stuff has been taken to our new rooms in the Gryffindor tower.” Sapphire replied. I could see they were all eagger to get to their stuff; they didn’t want Gryffindor’s snooping around their belongings.I walked off with them and the rest of the Slytherin’s. We finally (after getting a bit lost) got to the Gryffindor common room entrance.

“Names please.” The Gryffindor prefect commanded.“Hayley North, Pansy Parkinson, Lilly Owens, Clare Stevenson and Sapphire Lloyd.” I answered.“Right, Hayley North, Pansy Parkinson and Sapphire Lloyd are in the 3rd girls’ dormitory. Lilly Owens and Clare Stevenson are in the 7th girls’ dormitory. All your belongings are already in your new rooms. The password is Perry-wink.” The prefect told us with a glum looking expression, well she had been here since about 7 o’clock. We walked through the picture frame of a very large lady and walked up the stairs at the back of the common room. The doors were labelled for our benefit as this tower wasn’t the same as our own. Pansy, Sapphire and I walked into room 3 to find Ginny Weasley, Hermione Granger and this other girl with curly hair who I hadn’t met before.

“Hello, you must be Hayley, Pansy and Sapphire.” The curly haired girl said. “I’m Anna Lewis, this is Hermione Granger and this is Ginny Weasley. Those are your beds and wardrobes.” Anna said with the sickliest voice I had ever heard. I looked at the beds and my dress had been flung over it and my shoe box’s lid had fallen off. The rest of my clothes were in my wardrobe but they were coming off of the hangers. I looked at Pansy who was also looking in her wardrobe; she wore a face of disbelief. The clothes that were coming off the hangers straighten up and sorted themselves out into the right order. I picked my dress up and took it out of its bag and thank God it wasn’t creased, for their sake. There was no damage to any of my many pieces of clothing and nothing was out of place when I had finished with it. Anna, Ginny, Sapphire and Pansy had already gone down stairs and I was left with Hermione.

“Hi.” I said awkwardly.“Hi, what a coincidence that you get put in my room,” Hermione replied.“Yeah, was Neville alright last night after Draco had a go at him?” I asked, I was still annoyed with both of them but I tried not to show it.“I think so, I slept beside him but he didn’t turn around.”“Oh, Ok.”

“I’m going down to lunch now, you coming?” Hermione asked beginning to walk towards the door.“Yeah, Ok.” I replied. I was actually quite hungry, as I hadn’t had breakfast, because we were meant to have it in our common rooms. But of course our common room is out of bounds and I hadn’t got up early enough to have breakfast with the Gryffindor’s.We walked down to the Great Hall and I saw Draco. I smiled at him and walked over to the Gryffindor table. I sat next to Hermione and Ginny. Neville was sitting opposite me and kept looking up at me every-so-often.

“Harry, how are you doing with the Tri-Wizard Tournament?” I asked out of curiosity.“Oh, yeah. Nearly got the egg worked out. It makes a horrible noise though.” He replied between mouthfuls of mashed potatoes. At the end of lunch I was walking out the Great Hall with the Gryffindor’s and Draco pulled me to the side.

“Hey! Are you ok?” he asked.“Yeah sure. What room did you get put in?” I replied.“Room 5 with Potter, Weasley and Longbottom. I’ll kill him if he goes near you again.”I really didn’t want anything to happen to Neville, even if he did kiss me.“Please don’t.” I begged. “I won’t go near him and then you have no reason to.”“Ok. But if he does, I will do it.”

He let me go and I ran after Hermione, Pansy, Sapphire and Ginny. We didn’t talk all the way back to the common room. Neville tried to talk to me and I walked up to my room. I laid on my bed and fell asleep. When I woke up I found Neville looking over me.

“What are you doing?!?” I shouted at him as I sat up.“Um, I just wanted to say that I love you.” He replied and he kissed me softly on my lips. I slapped him, his mouth hung wide open.“How dare you!!!” I screamed with tears running down my face. “You know I don’t like you! Draco will kill you! I can’t believe I stuck up for you!” I ran out of the dormitory and down the stairs.

“Hayley what’s wrong?” Draco, Pansy and Hermione asked as I ran passed them. I ran through the door and down to the Forbidden Forest. I ran through the trees and after I had been in the forest for about 5 minutes just running, I sat down and cried.

Wednesday 24th December- Back to the Slytherin Tower!

At 3:00am I heard something behind me. I looked around the tree I was leaning against and saw a dark shadow move towards me. It was Neville.“Keep away from me!” I warned him as I started to back away from him.“Hayley, I’m sorry. But I love you!” Neville stated as he walked closer towards me.“I said KEEP AWAY FROM ME!!!” I screamed, as I tripped over a tree root. He went to help me up, but I screamed even more. He helped me up, although I was reluctant. After a while of him holding me still I stopped screaming.

“What do you want?” I asked with tears still streaming down my face. He cupped my face in his hands and kissed me. I pushed him away and I walked back and tripped over the tree root, again. Suddenly, I saw a flash of purple light and Neville flew through the air and landed against another tree. I stood up and saw Draco with his wand pointing towards Neville. He was walking towards him.

“Didn’t I warn you to keep away from my girlfriend?” Draco asked as Neville got up. Neville searched the ground for his wand, but I grabbed it first.“Looking for this?” I asked as I spun the wand around my fingers. “Oh, it’s yew, 10 ½ inches, dragon heartstring, am I right?” What a sudden change of attitude.“Yeah.” Neville replied.“How dare you go near her!” Draco shouted at him.“I, I, I…” Neville stuttered. Draco hexed him and he fell to the floor. He smirked and walked over to me.“You ok?” he asked as he put his wand away and put his arms around my waist. I smiled and put my arms around his neck and kissed him.“Yeah, I'm fine. We better get up to the Gryffindor tower, before Longbottom wakes up.” I replied as we parted from our kiss. I dropped Neville’s wand in front of him and walked off with Draco to the Gryffindor tower.By the time we had got up to the common room, there was no one in there. Draco and I walked up to our dormitories and went to bed.

In the morning (11:30 ish) I woke up. I looked out of the window to see more snow on the ground and it was still falling. I got dressed and went down to the common room. I started to look for Draco and the rest of my friends. But the only people in the Gryffindor common room were the prefects and the nerds. I couldn’t see any Slytherins there, so I walked out of the common room and back to the Slytherin common room to see if anyone was there. I saw a note on the door; it said ‘The Slytherin common room is now open.’ I walked in and saw all the other Slytherin’s in the common room and they were looking at Professor Snape who had turned around to look at me as I opened the door.

“Miss North you are late. Why?” he asked.“I’m sorry, I had a late night.” I replied as I took a spot inbetween Draco and Sapphire.“As I was saying,” Snape continued giving me an evil look. “There was some disturbance last night in the Forbidden Forest. We don’t know who did this, but we think it’s the same wizard who tried to attack Miss North only a couple of nights ago. That’s all.” Snape left and we got back to our usual business.

“Hi.” I said to Draco. We sat down on the sofa together. “Did anyone find out about last night?”“No.” he replied. “He came in at like 5:00 am and I gave him a piece of my mind, again.”“Ok, I just wanted to know.” I put my head on his shoulder and didn’t say a word till lunch. We had our lunch in the Great Hall, Neville started at me throughout it. Draco didn’t seem to notices as he was talking to Goyle all lunch, he had his arm around the whole time he wasn’t eating, but other than that he didn’t pay much attention to me.

As we walked out Neville pulled me aside without Draco noticing; he was talking to Blaize now.“What do you want?!?” I screamed at him. He lead me down a dark corridor with little torch lights every few metres.“I want to prove to you how much I love you…” he whispered once we had stopped. He took my hands and I immediately moved them away from his grasp.“I’m dating Draco…” he silenced me as he put his finger to my lips.“I said I will prove to you how much I love you.” He continued. Neville’s arms wrapped their way around my waist and pulled me forward.“Neville! NO!!!” I shouted at him. I tried to remove his hands from my waist, but he tightened his grip on me. “Get off me!” Neville moved in to kiss me.

“Get away from her!” someone shouted, as they moved closer I realised it was Goyle. Neville let me go and I ran to Goyle, I stood behind him. “What do you think you’re doing?”

“I’m…” he stuttered. Goyle grabbed his wand and held it to his throat.“Never go near her ever again. How many times do we have to tell you?” Goyle asked and he took me back to the common room. “What do you think you were doing?”“He pulled me down there. Do you think I wanted to go with him?” I asked.“No, who would want to kiss that freak?”

“So, why do you think I wanted to?” I asked back. “I love Draco and I plan to stay with him for a long time, not just a few days.” We didn’t speak all the way back to the common room. I walked straight up to my dormitory and stayed there till I heard a knock at the door. I opened the door to find my true love, Draco Malfoy.

“Hiya, babe.” He said as he sat down on the end on my bed.“Hi. I guess you heard what happened then.” I assumed, tears were running down my face and he tried to comfort me.“It’s not your fault.” He said as he held me in a loving embrace. “I think after what Goyle did, he won’t come back. Apparently he has asked Ginny Weasley to the Yule Ball now.” I had stopped crying. At least now he would leave me alone. We both walked down to the common room and sat down with Sapphire, Clare, Lilly, Pansy, Crabbe, Goyle and Blaize. We went to dinner and Neville wasn’t paying any attention to me at all, he was sat talking to Ginny, Harry, Ron, Hermione and a few other Gryffindor’s.

After dinner we went outside and across the bridge near were we have our Magical Creatures lessons. We sat on the hill and talked.“Who are you going to the ball with, Pansy?” I asked her.“I don’t have anyone to go with.” She replied whilst going a bit red.“Who’s everyone going with?” Clare asked looking at everyone in turn.Draco and I were going together (of course), Sapphire was going with Goyle, and Lilly was going with Blaize, Clare was going with a Slytherin 5th year called Darren Lowe. Crabbe wasn’t going with anyone and neither was Pansy. Match making time!

“Why don’t Crabbe and Pansy go together?” I asked as I leant back on Draco.“I don’t mind.” Crabbe said looking at Pansy who looked like she had no answer to the question.“Ok.” Pansy replied, she smiled at Crabbe. At about 8:30 we walked back up to our common room. We sat on the sofa and talked till about 11:00, when the prefects told us to go to bed. Plus we girls had to look great for tomorrow...
