A piece I wrote back in March of 2009.

Today I am drowning in the promises I never got to keep,

Wishing you was near sleeping here with me.

And so I am lamenting what I’ve done to you,

I blame my youth and pride for not knowing what to do.

It’s not that I can’t live without but I don’t want to try,

From feeling your embrace I have been deprived.

The plot of this story I begin to see,

I’m the antagonist, who’s begging for you, please,

Forgive me…

My love, I try to try to reckon a new start,

And I also try to get you out of my heart.

I try to banish all the tears that I made you shed,

And the hurtful words that to you I said.

It’s pointless when my eyes are trapped inside your eyes,

Baby, to forget you I really try to try.

Some days I reminisce and I do recall,

I never valued you and now it’s all my fault.

I underestimated that you were so strong,

And that of me one day you’d actually let go.

I’m sorry for the wounds but I have come to see,

No matter what I do you won't come back to me.

I hope you see the sorrow coming from my heart,

Mercy is all I’m asking to come from your part.

Believe me…

This was great, jaylisbeth. One line in particular stood out to me: 'It's not that I can't live without but I don't want to try'. Couldn't this be applied to so many things other than relationships. Anyway, nice write!
