I long for the hot days of summer.
For the nights that never seem to end.
The sound of crickets in the distance
As I call the cool darkness my friend.

I long for the hot days of summer
For the nights spent on the river bend.
Laughing and talking, our poles in the water
And memories made amongst friends.

I long for the hot nights of summer
For the song that the whippoorwill sings
For the fireflys lazying at the waters edge
As the symphony of nature begins.

I long for the hot days of summer
If only for a moment in time
For it seems that as soon as it gets here
Autumn is quick to arrive.
