Darkness  covers the little shack

Hiding things in shades of black

Suddenly a match flashes

Casting light on the sashes

Candles light the room

Frozen and dingy like a tomb

The girl cold and frail

Shivers and eats bread stale

Thin cloth covers the tiny frame

She is dieing slowly who's to blame?

Was it Father who drank himself to death

Or mother who in sickness breathed her last breath?

Was it brother who ran away

Or the girl who chose to stay?

No one knows the reason why

And never will for soon she will die
