I think I lost yet another friend today

someone who I swear I didn't betray

my friendship isn't bogus

but this world is out of focus

this bottomless pit I'm drowning in

this messed up world so full of sin

I try so hard to keep myself sane

but my attempts are all in vain

no-one calls, writes or e-mails

the pain that cuts like the sharpest nails

the solitude is breaking through

the lack of oxygen turning me blue

the exile of my lonely heart

this prison from which I'll never depart

my own mind ensnaring my soul

keeping me from reaching my goal

and happiness is only a fantasy

so I'll just let my loneliness be
