Dieing on the inside

smiling on the outside

dried blood under soft sleeves

stress released in a puff of smoke

tears falling through the night

calling out in silence

the glass is looking empty

reaching to the bottle for relief

letting go of fear and falling

Falling into you

you lift me from the floor

carry me out the door

bring me to a new life

hold me close till I quit crying

fill my glass with water

bathe me in love instead of blood

replace the smoke with your breath

the sleeves with your gentle touch

 making sadness a memory

making my smile a reality

making everyday a joy to live

making you the only one I love

Now I awake with only the memory

of a time of sadness

A time before you
