I wrote this poem when I was venting. I was going through a rough spot in my life. I got close to God and knowing he was watching over me kept me from losing my sanity.

Without your family,
you are filled with pain.
Pain so severe,
it is hard to keep sane.

As the holidays draw near,
there is one thing I fear!
I will be in isolation,
alone in tears
in the Sea of Devastation.

Without your family,
you are filled with sorrow.
Always wondering desperately
about tomorrow.

I have a longing to go home,
but I can’t even use the phone.
The honey in this comb,
won’t be near as sweet
with this new family I may soon meet.

Without your family,
you become angry.
Irritation, Anger, Sorrow, and Awkwardness become your best buds,
though the relationships are like mud.
Through bottled emotions your serpentine tongue slips
words that would push your friendships into flips.

Without your family,
in the back of your mind lurks neglection.
For I am only a small granulate of sand,
and with much trepidation,
I am falling through the cracks in your hand.

I feel my importance has begun to erase,
as each wave crashes against the distant shores of time
leaving me with empty space.
I wait alone in the darkness for a sign,
a salvation from this place.
I stare out across the endless brine
praying the end of this nightmare would quicken its pace.

Without your family,
you are constantly searching for an escape gate.
But you do not have to be wary
for the Lord knows your fate.
