Nightmares of Nanking Massacre

It all started in a small Nanking rice field outside of Nanking in a tiny village named Hutang.

A Nanking citizen named Ming Chao. Ming Chao was a small middle aged man who was dressed in ragged clothes. His pants and shirt were full of holes and tears they looked like rags, but he worked in his rice field every day. He was walking home from his rice field, to his tiny one room shack. He didn’t have much, but it was his. All of a sudden he heard yelling and explosions all around the village he lived in. When he realized what was going on he looked up and the saw this plane with the Japanese flag painted on it. He now knew that the village was being attacked by the Imperial Japanese Army.

After I ran to my tiny shack, I tried to grab all my belongings when the door was kicked in and five Japanese soldiers filled the room. Two of them pointed guns with bayonets covered in blood. The third one commanded something and the two soldiers grabbed me roughly and threw me to the ground. They started kicking me and punching me, when they finally stopped they picked me up and carried me outside. When we got outside they threw me into a wagon. In the wagon there were three small children and two older men and women, they all were beaten up and cut. As we travelled through the small village I saw young children, young men and women scattered on the ground some with their throats slashed and stomachs ripped open. The farther we travelled through the village the worse it got. What I saw next would make anyone want to throw up, I heard the screams of the young girls and women as they were being gang raped, punched, kicked and tortured. All I could do was pray because it was the worst thing I have ever seen. I felt helpless for at this moment I couldn’t do anything to help them. I then saw the knife lying on the wagon floor.

That was enough, I was very angry and so I stood up and grabbed the knife off the wagon floor. I realized then that I’m probably going to die, so I wanted to do all I could to help and save the village. I thought to myself I’m not a like these soldiers, I’m not a murder but I had to save these innocent people. I started moving towards the front of the wagon, trying not to make noise. Just as I got to the front of the wagon one of the soldiers turned around and saw me, before he could say a word I slashed his throat. The other soldier yelled and turned and I stabbed him over and over again. As I stood looking at the two dead soldiers I began to cry for this wasn’t who I was, I kept telling myself I’m not a killer, it was my duty to save the innocent people.

When I got everyone untied and freed from the wagon, I took off running towards the village with a gun I had taken from one of the dead soldiers in one hand and the knife in the other. When I got to the village it was a mess, homes burning and destroyed, people lying all over dead. I saw three soldiers coming towards me I knew I had to move quickly and defend myself, I shot two of them and slashed the others throat. I kept moving towards the village centre, as I arrived there were twenty soldiers raping, killing and torturing groups of girls and women and on the other side was all the young boys and men getting stabbed repeatedly and then they disfigured them. When I got to cover I looked and started firing. I shot three soldiers dead before they knew what was going on. I took cover again when they started to shoot back, when it got to close I left and hid. When they started coming towards me to find me, I killed them one by one until I was surrounded by only five of them. I knew I was going to die so I tried to fight but when I moved I got shot multiple times and as I tried to move closer I was stabbed by all five bayonets, I knew I was done. The pain was unbearable all I could do was lay down and watch as they stabbed me again and again that’s when I took my last breath.
