Over yonder wanders
The vagabond Saunders
Seeking his fame and fortune.
He's not asking for much,
Just a tad and a touch
And a little bit more than his portion.
But as I would say,
"That is not the way
For fortune, to have and to hold.
To have your druthers
And the kindness of others
Will not fill your pot with gold."
You must work at a wage
From a legal age,
Saving one-fourth from the start.
Drinking is out!
And drugs, no doubt,
Would tare your future apart.
It is the simplest of plans
And it works for its fans,
Even for some in the ghetto.
But there's another way
For the few that can say,
"Oh my God, I hit the Lotto!"

Oh, I just love this. I haven't bought a ticket in years, never won a cent when I did, but the dream was always there! Nice one, JE.

Smart saving or chancy spending - one's obviously smarter than the other, but the other offers greater rewards. Of course, by the time you actually win the lotto, you might just be breaking even on the number of tickets bought.

A not so famous professional gambler once said, "I Talley-ed it all up after many years and I found that the only profit I made with gambling was the money I borrowed to make a bet and never paid back.
