The music ends by my own hand,

the last of my courage fading with one final bluster.

My precious instrument falls silent,

its din never to be heard in this land again.

I have mastered the evil with my fiery will,

a love protecting my path.

My compassion has always been my shield,

My passion a giant’s knife.

A fire will always burn inside me,

but now it is time to rest.

My iron skin is weary

My noble steed exhausted.

The darkening cloud over the desert sands has been sealed away

My guardian, my love returned to her youthful days.

Time is a flowing stream we travel,

Yet some things can never be undone.

My home is not what I thought it to be

I am no one’s son.

A strange little boy I have always been,

A fierce man I will grow into again.

The future has served as a mirror to me

Of those dreadful times that will never be.

A truthful lens shows me the way

To a happy, peaceful resting place.

No cave nor lake lends enough seclusion,

To protect me from a predator’s intrusion.

With no twinkling light following as I go,

I am now truly alone.

I am my own light now,

An arrow straight and true,

One that fire and ice cannot subdue.

I have retired my sword, but do not think that I have quit

I am a bomb ready with its fuse unlit.

On little legs I wander, returned to my youthful form

Having saved this land I love from a constant song of storms.

I gave everything I had and it was enough,

dropping the hammer on darkness to save the one I love.

Her name I dare not utter for it hurts too much to recall,

Her eyes gave cause to stutter as we spied on the great hall.

I will never forget the first time we met, nor the last time when we said goodbye.

She was more of a friend than I had known; her identity she’d had to hide.

I won’t stop thinking about her, but I had to walk away.

Now I travel on my own to that peaceful resting place.

No more quests await my aid

No more items do I need to collect.

All keys have been used

All chests have been opened

No more tokens do I need to detect.

I have planted the seeds for a brighter future

I have forged bonds that will last forever

This land is a temple of stability

Thanks to my lasting endeavours.

All are grateful for what I have done,

The land is alight in celebration.

My mind is lost on the one

Whose eyes expressed the first elation.

I have given a piece of my heart to save her.

There are still three pieces left in the container.

I will take them with me when I go away

To my peaceful resting place.

I’ve said goodbye to those I love,

Their sagely presence always lingering above.

But I cannot bid farewell to my faithful steed,

Her company is what I will need.

We travel together across the peaceful land

The memories of past and present will not end.

We travel to a familiar spot,

One that I love a lot.

There is no sweet tune to quicken pace

And transport me to that peaceful place.

There is no sweet tune to fill me with glee

As I rest beneath the Great Deku Tree.

At least I have my steed.
