I gave a piece of myself for you to have

To hold

To cherish

To keep you company in the dark.

I gave a piece of myself and thought you’d be thankful

Instead, you have devoured that piece

Left nothing but crumbs

Sprinkled on the hilltop this night.

How can I love you

Trust you

Feel whole?

When you have devoured a piece of my soul?

I devoured a piece of you

That much is true

But I did it so I could feel closer to you.

I am missing something

Inside myself

And I hoped the answer could be found in this piece of you.

I did it for love

For respect

Appreciation

Don’t hide your light from me

I don’t know what else to do.

I won’t hide from you

I am here to help you through the dark.

Take what you need from me

I am here to give.

Devour the rest of my soul if you need

I won’t mind.

It does not mean I have died.

You won’t see me in the sky anymore

Once you take that final bite

But I will still glow bright and true

Shining the beauty of my soul in you.
