Dimly In The Mirror

By Jeff Shumate © 2009

Seeing dimly in the mirror,

My heart’s questions lead me here.

Lord I wonder why,

Why do people die,

Your Word will give me glimpse,

My mind has finite sense.

I ask how nature stands,

The rivers held by sands,

Your Word will tell me why,

Your hands keep soils dry,

Lord, forgive my mortal man,

I do not understand.

The Zebras backward knees,

The colors of the trees,

A baby’s bottom soft,

An old man’s mind aloft,

In wars the people die,

I often wonder why,

Evil mixed with good,

It’s hardly understood.

I seek Your Word for why,

It’s dimness not a lie.

Forgive my mortal man,

He wants to understand.

I seek my Lord for why,

In faith I wait to die.

What’s seen dimly in the mirror,

One day will He show clear!
