Who is Stan?

By Jeff Shumate © 2009

There once was a man lost in his sin,

He cried out to God, “where have you been?”

God saw a man’s life of suffering and shame,

His glorious right hand took all the blame.

There once was a Man, who knew not a sin,

He bled from the cross, for damnations to end.

Stepped into this world, but was not received,

Condemned by His people, in trade for the thief.

Oh His suffering, beyond any man,

God in the flesh did it for Stan.

Stan was a man lost in his sin,

He was nobody special, not now and not then.

As many are stars, he was but one count,

Lost in the world, damned beyond doubt,

Suspended betwixt heaven and earth,

Our Savior saw Stan would have a new birth.

Who is Stan? He’s no one to me,

But God saw his salvation, as Christ hung from the tree.

Who is to say God isn’t love,

He sent His one Son far from above,

When nobody else thought of this man,

God ushered this Stanley into His plan.

To answer Stan’s question, God had to say,

“I’m waiting for you, believe in Jesus today!”
