“The Chilling New Novel From the New York Times Bestselling author”, and yes chilling it is. I came across this author, Lauren Myracle quite recently. Since I am on winter break right now (alas, only about four more days to go), I got the chance to go on a person read-a-thon. My sister Wendy had checked out Myracle’s Peace, Love, and Baby Ducks from her school and finished reading it. I was bored so I picked it up. Immediately I was hooked onto Myracle’s honest and raw voice in the tale of sisters. Having two sisters of my own, I related to the novel really deeply. So I was anticipating to read Myracle’s other books. I picked up Bliss. Bliss is a novel about a girl who was dropped off at her rich, southern grandmother’s mansion when her parents decides to hitch out of the country. She is sent to a top private high school and begins life anew. She has to deal a totally different life than her old one on the commune. The story is set in a historical time of the 1970s and is filled with themes of racism, friendship, and horror. I really liked it in the beginning. I got really creeped whenever that voice spoke to Bliss. Bliss is actually a very misleading title. I thought it would be similar to Peace, Love, and Baby Ducks, not horror. But I am a fan of horror. I just wasn’t comfortable the ending; it was too abrupt, leaving the reader wondering…so that’s it?

What did you guys think?
