When we were young and still so happy,

We thought that life was fun and games.

But as we grew older and wiser,

We find out that life is not that way.

The world in which we live is not joyous at all.

It is cruel and greedy and has no sympathy.

We claim when we go out into the world that life would be free and perfect

But alas, it all goes astray and we find that we are burdened with things we didn't imagine.

So many problems and worries crowd our minds.

Nothing goes the way it is suppose to.

The evergreen and sunny meadows that we envisioned now turned into a stormy, dark, and frightening field lit only by lightening.

Is it so hard to ask for a world that is cheerful

With no issues, drugs, alcohol, crime, and poverty?

How can the world with all its lures of happiness and the visions of love be so hateful and angry?

What are we to do when we find out the truth?
