This poem was based on a typical crush I had, and after a scintillating conversation with said crush one day (where he mumbled “Hi” while looking at the ground before walking away and I stood there smiling like an idiot unable to move), I went home and wrote this whole poem in one sitting. Until now, I have no clue if what he did that day meant anything, but sad to say, I have not seen him for two years now, though I’m sort of glad he never found out about my crush!
I wrote this when I was eleven, so go easy on me. Criticism is welcome.

There is a boy
Who has caught my eye.
I smile readily at him
Every time he walks by.

The other boys hoot
And the other girls stare
But I don’t really mind
Because I don’t really care.

He looks at me,
Then quickly looks down.
He says hi to me
While staring at the ground.

I smile goofily
My heart starts beating fast.
My legs feel like falling apart;
It's nothing different from the past.

I had never really known him;
He was just another guy.
But all that changed
when he first said hi.

Now everything was different;
I no longer feel that way.
I found myself thinking about him
Every single day.

I think about him and say
"When he notices me, well that would be the day”
I feel a sudden adrenaline rush
This is, of course, an awkward crush.
