I Wonder Why

I wonder why I feel the way I do

Angry, hurt and blue

The people closest to me

Try bringing me down to one knee

They seem self contained

My feelings they hurt and drained

They act as if they don’t care

And all they do is just stare

No one wants to be in the middle

So they play you like a fiddle

Pretending to be there

Acting for just a moment they care

When the reality is they lie

And don’t realize it can make you cry

It’s all about them

They think they are gems

They like to hide things

But behind your back they sing

How could they be friends with me

Then turn around and sting me like a bee

They like to be the center of it all

Instead of being a mentor or a friend you call

They can have more than one friendship

But the scales they don’t want to tip

Why be all secretive and behind the scenes

Instead of being honest and not mean

The bottom line is clear

Quite frankly they were never here

So again on my own

My heart was only on loan

My friends who were once true

Have hurt me to the point of being blue
