To a dear friend

When you told me news

I instantly got the blues

What went wrong?

It’s not where you belong

You have a good life

And you’re a great wife

You have wonderful kids

But remember it’s nothing you did

I’ll stand here nice and strong

To help you through it, all along

There will be ups and downs

And tears and frowns

But I’ll always be there

Making sure you know I care

I will help him out as well

Through this emotional hell

He will have a friend too

To help him with all the things there are to do

The kids will be fine

I’ll treat them as if they were mine

Even though you’re sticking around

Being there for them, I can be found

Don’t worry about everything around you

Just remember who is true

Those are the friends you need

And I am one of them, yes indeed

I want you to know how much I care

And that no matter what I will always be there

When times are rough

My friendship is no bluff

I’ll hold your hand

And help you understand

I’ll teach you new things

Cuz that’s what I do

Then your phone rings

Look I’m calling you!

Everyone loves you

This I know is true

No matter what goes down in the end

I’ll always love you my friend

I’m here whenever you need something

Even if it’s just a phone to ring

But here’s the bottom line

Everything will turn out fine.
