The Tale of Murder

It was a cold dark night when Marissa O’Grady was walking home and decided to take a shortcut through the woods. While she was walking she heard footsteps behind her and she stopped. Marissa began walking faster through the woods and it sounded like the footsteps were right behind her. She began running and tripped and twisted her ankle. Marissa turned and tried to get up but it was to late she screamed bloody murder as a silhouette of a knife came across her neck. The next morning the police and Mr. and Mrs. O’Grady went into the woods to look for Marissa and soon enough they found her body lying dead in the creek. Marissa’s body was drenched in blood. “What monster did this to our daughter” ,cried Mrs. O’Grady. “Good morning I could’t help but to notice that your in grieving, but I came to give my regards to your family for your tragic loss”. said Mr. Cartwright. Phillip Cartwright was a con man and murderer. “Come now, we need to get her ready for the funeral”. Mr. and Mrs. O’Grady asked Mr. Cartwright to come to the funeral. The next afternoon the sky became gray and it began to pour. “May, Marissa rest in peace”, said the minister. “Thank you Minister Jacobs that was lovely”, said Mrs. O’Grady. “Mr. Cartwright would you join us for dinner tonight”? Suddenly Mr. Cartwright noticed what appeared to be the ghost of Marissa covered in blood. “MURDERER”!!!, screamed the ghost. “Of course”, said Mr. Cartwright. That evening at dinner the adults were talking when suddenly there was Marissa sitting head of the table. “Your a bad man”, hissed the ghost. “Mr Cartwright are you alright”, asked Mr. O’Grady. “You look mighty pale”. Mr. Cartwright kept hearing the voice of Marissa screaming “MURDERER, LIAR”! “Stop it, stop”! screamed Mr. Cartwright as he put his hands over his ears. “Mr. Cartwright, do you need to freshen up the bathroom is on the right dear ”, said Mrs. O’Grady. Mr. Cartwright began washing his face when the face of Marissa appeared in the mirror. “MURDERER”, it screamed as Mr. Cartwright fell to the floor. “Is everything alright”, asked Mrs. O’Grady. Mr. Cartwright ran out the door and headed home. “A good night’s sleep is all I need to get these horrible images out of my head”. As soon as he laid in his bed the ghost was laying right next to him. She screamed and he fell on the ground. “A good cup of tea is all I need to calm my nerves”. Mr. Cartwright sat in his chair by the fire and he started to doze off when he heard footsteps in the house. He started to call out, but figured it must have been the wind. Suddenly a great force knocked him from his chair, and caused him to fall onto the floor. He got up and quickly went to his desk to pull out his knife when suddenly he noticed it was missing. He ran to the door when Marissa’s ghost was standing right in front of him. “MURDERER! You are the man who murdered me in the woods. You are the one who steals from the town and murders innocent people. Now it’s time to get what you deserve Phillip Cartwright”. Mr. Cartwright fell to his knees and begged the ghost not to kill him, but then she raised the knife and Mr. Cartwright screamed bloody murder. The next morning Mr. Cartwright’s neighbor Miss Parker came to borrow a cup of sugar for a recipe she was making. “Mr. Cartwright are you here”? The door was wide open and his house looked like it was robbed. Miss. Parker noticed a trail of blood and began to follow it. She opened the door to his sitting room, and there he was lying dead on the ground with his organs inside out and on the wall was the word “MURDERER”! Miss Parker ran out of the house screaming and fell in the middle of the road where a wagon was riding by and ran Miss Parker over. On that wagon was Marissa and nobody ever knew if her spirit ever crossed over as she screamed “MURDERER”!!!!!
