"Crow" is a piece I composed to accompany a picture I took of three blackbirds soaring in circles during a foggy and stormy night. I sensed something creepy and deathly about the crows and decided to portray that feeling through my poetry and photography.

I cowered down in fear when I saw them coming

Their cry

As loud as a siren echoing through the town

Piercing my eardrums beating away

Drumming… drumming… drumming…

Their wings

I should be able to hear it through this storm but

It’s as strong as if I was walking through a vacant desert

Thump… thump… thump…

Their eyes

Frightening me the most

I shouldn’t be able to see them through this fog

Red… burning… they don’t need words

To say that they are coming to lie atop of

Your grave
