Dream Through Reality

Poem by: jessicaelisepoetry

Summary

I wrote, "Daydreaming" to portray the feeling of never wanting to wake up from a dream or, rather, wanting to sleep forever to avoid reality. I took a picture of a dream-catcher that I created to accompany this piece. The photograph shows a very bright, almost unreal background.

Standing in this blistering heat

I feel lost

Something is off…

The snow starts to fall

Now I know I’m dreaming

As the moon slowly makes its way into my hands

And it opens

And I see a note…

But there are no words

There is a black hole

Preparing to suck me back into reality

So I fight

I struggle- kicking and screaming

As this note pulls me back into the

Real nightmare that will begin

Just as I open my eyes
