It felt like it was forever ago. It could have been forever ago. I don’t know what day, month, or year this is. Well, it's more of a "i don't want to know" honestly.

I remembered how it was like in school, back then. Everybody was a one-upper. Everybody wants to be better than the others. Nobody wants to loose.

I use to think that’s just what people in my school are like, but now that this has happened, I realized that it was all a part of human nature, or at least, this generation’s nature. It’s not just people from school; it was the whole human race.

People think that they need to be better than everyone. There’s always someone better than you…always, and that’s okay. You don’t have to be the best to be great. But that’s not how people see things; that’s how I see things, and I don’t know who or what I am anymore.

I survived. I’m still alive. So what am I? Am I human at all?

I look at an empty spot on the ground. That used to be a tree. There was a swing on that tree, and I would sit on the tire and sit there until it was dinnertime.

I look to my other side, and see another spot. That used to be my mom’s flowerbed.

I sighed as I recall all the memories.

They weren’t here to fight at all. They came in peace.

How would I know? You might ask.

Well, I thought that they came here to conquer us and take over the whole human race. They did say that all they asked for is a place to stay. They didn’t have a place to stay, and they were willing to share it with us.

Of course, us humans feel threatened. Not because they have a very advanced weaponries and all, but it was just our pride in general.

It wasn’t even a battle, but of course they need to win. They need to feel like they won. What did they win? Nothing. They lost. It wasn’t even a battle to begin with.

Noticed how I said “they” instead of “we”? Well, that’s because I don’t know who or what I am anymore.

Humans fought, and they had no choice but to fight back. Humans thought that they—or we—were defending our territory, but really, they didn’t take it away from us. They were asking us to share it.

It’s kind of like watching TV, when your brother suddenly came to watch it with you, so you need to scoot over so he could fit in.

Gosh, I miss my brother.

A lot of people fought. Some became victim, some sacrificed theirselves, but at the end of the day, they were all out there.

Of course, except me. They thought they were defending their territory, no. They were just being selfish, but I suppose that’s how humans think.

Humans always let their pride and selfishness take over. Really, sharing a huge earth with them wouldn’t be that bad. I know…you’re probably thinking “how should I know?”

Me, the only human left on earth?

But I never really said I was the only living thing on earth, did I?

I heard a loud “whoosh!” sound from above me and I chuckled.

“Kendall! Get over here and eat dinner! And please tell Harry to stop riding the jetpack!”

ok i don't really know why i wrote this. I watched the fifth wave (you should watch it if you haven't) and i guess i was a bit...inspired.

I don't even think this story made sense. About that ending...yeah, you can let your imagination run wild.

Thanks for reading this...weird thing, anyways!
