Yeah, that annoys me too. Although, epiphany could mean "a moment of sudden understanding or revelation", as well. Or so my computer dictionary (wordweb) says.
But I agree with you fully. I tend not to use words that I have just learned or that I'm not familiar with unless I'm sure I know where it goes and how to use it. It's something everyone should follow. My dad does it all of the time, and I just gave up on correcting him XD

I to am guilty to a point of this. But I been literarily given in person literary test and my understanding and use of words is very high. Not that I study or have a literary degree just been around and always questioning and researching. sometimes though in my writings i do purposely misuse words. I do so though to see who is really paying attention and notices.
Yes you're right. Either way though people still use the word incorrectly far to often.

just saw some rapper labeled his new album epiphany and nothing he sing has to do with it what so ever. even someone on here label a poem the same thing without it having anything to do with the christian festival of the manifictioan of jesus christ or a divine being.
