Without a shadow of a doubt, this is why Bret Hart rage quit the WWF. Vince McMahon and his insatible ego. We all know how it went, so here we go:

Near the end of the main event match at Survivor Series 1997, Michael Hickenbottom (Shawn Michaels) had the sharpshooter (Hart's own finishing maneuver), on him in Hart's home country of Canada. All of a sudden, referee Earl Hebner prematurely called for the bell and thus screwed Hart out of winning the WWF Championship, and possibly taking the belt directly to WCW. At that moment, Hickenbottom's friend, Paul Levesque (Hunter Hearst Helmsley) rushed Hickenbottom out of the arena, fearing a riot if they didn't. Meanwhile, Hart spit in the face of McMahon and afterward performed his 'rage quit': He slammed the monitors of the announce tables down, and left the arena in disgust.

Now is that treating your talent properly, McMahon?
