Dancy's Bar, dockside in the Boneyard on the planet Rourkes Wreck ,scipio sector ,out on the rim ,isn't a place any sapient being casually visits.None with any sense anyways. Its definately no place an inner system blue blood prom queen would consider for her coming out party.\\

It is a place where life is cheap, cheaper than the bad alk and drugs i sell, My clientele are the dregs, the scum of the universe, downed spacers, mercs,

bounty hunters, the hard cases, pirates , outlaws of every sentient species in known space, you get the idea. A man can't be soft out here on the frontier.Kindness, sentiment, goodwill to thy fellow man, aren't assets conducive to anyones continued well being.Any sign of weakness, will get you blaster burned in the back out here on the edge.Blaster burn, the second leading cause of death on Rourkes Wreck.Walk down any alley in the boneyard anytime of day or night and you'll trip over a body or three  .Drunks ,Caffin addicts, hard cases that lost there edge ,owed the wrong people, or were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Theres a  large turnover of customers in joints like Dancy's,I have my regulars but most customers never seem to stick around for long, call it an itch, a yearning to wander, to see whats on the other side of that last jump gate, call it what you want. I call it bounty hunters, angry husbands, angry wives, creditors, a vibra blade in the back. Vibra blade in the back, the number 0ne cause of suicide in the Bone Yard.
One of my regulars was A man name of Frank "Acey" Dusey.Technically A former regular , I was currently cleaning what was left of Acey off the table where he ran Dancy's only  card game.I couldnt afford more than one game tablewith the price of cleaning materials being what they where .Acey was a true gentleman,a rare quality on Rourkes,A diminuative man with thinning white hair and a slight lisp.An educated pattern of speech and an impeccable and snappy dresser, you'd think he just stepped out of an old earth finishing school he was so suave.. You would think the hardcases i get in here would take offense at his demeaner , be insulted by his vocabulary, just the opposite,he was everybodies friend,A smiling old man with a taste for Thorsens Rye,  a kindly old uncle you could confide in,in other words an easy mark, a fresh fish a target .An image Acey perfected over half a lifetime spent in alk bars and caffin dens in every third rate port on the rim.
I knew Acey well, he was the closest thing to a friend I had and the second best card cheat I have ever seen.Everyone was happy at his table, If a drunk merc was getting nasty and it looked like a gunfight was in the air Acey dealt him A winning hand, A spacer or ranch hand was feeling free and loose with his creds Acey relieved him of a few, not much just enough to keep a roof over his daughters head and food in her belly and maybe a little left over for a bottle of thorsens. Acey was a genius, a tenth degree master of the cardshark art, every hand he dealt he owned, every bet, every raise, every fold was controlled by him.If you won it was because he wanted you to, when you lost it was a symphony choreographed by him. The players were his orchestra and he was the maestro.Yes everyone was happy at Acey's table.
It only takes one lapse in judgement ,one mistake to get yourself killed in the boneyard. Acey's mistake was a little too much Thorsens or maybe he was losing his touch. It doesnt really matter the end result was a vibra blade in his left eye and the mess I had to clean.
News travels fast in the Boneyard. I'm sure  Annie heard the news of her father's death and I expected her in at any time to claim her inheritance. She knew I was the closest thing to a friend Acey had on Rourkes and I would see she was looked after, I guess I'll give her Acey's table. After all she is the best card cheat I've ever seen.Annie doesnt have any sort of bad habits that I knew of, no alk or drug use, no kids to look after.I wouldnt want to tempt her with too many creds, It would ruin her, lead her down the wrong path.A pocket full of gold in a 12 year old girls pocket could lead to all kinds of trouble. Yeah Acey was my friend and I'll look after Annie, maybe juice up the house take from her table another 50%. That will give me a little more skim for my retirement fund, and Annie will make enough coin to keep herself fed.I'm starting to feel a little better knowing I'm doing the right thing by that poor little girl
