''What are you doing now?'' I asked my daughter.
''Can't you see I'm getting myself ready to go on a date.'' She said.
''With whom? He must be hard up!''
''He's one of those who has fallen head over heels for me.'' She said, taking a last look in the mirror.
''Poor fella, '' I told her. ''He has to handle all those extras.''
''A bit heavy round the waist, that's all.'' She told me.
''I like them slim,'' I said. ''But I have no problem if they're a couple pounds over. Where's he going to take you, anyway!''
''He's a good fella, and I'm sure he'll take me to the flix.''
''That's what you're hoping, some of them like a dark park, and snogging, then you know what!''
''Not all men are like that. There are some decent fellas out there.''
''Next thing I know you come back pregnant, and he's not around any more.'' I told her.
''You've got a way of making up your own story. How did you meet mum?''
''I met her on a road in the middle of the town. It was love at first sight.''
''Had she any boyfriend before you met her?''
''No. She was totally alone, until she met me.''
''The girls in our generation are different. We go out and if we meet a bloke we like, it could be a one night stand or forever.''
''That's it you see, you meet up with this bloke, and it's bed time for both of you. Where's the love and the courting. Building up to a proper relationship.''
''You're lucky if you find a proper relationship these days. It's money, money, money, and more money.''
''You ought to settle down and have a family.''
''I'm not ready for that yet. I want to have some fun.''
''It is time you give me some grandchildren. I want to play with them before I depart.''
''You'll have to wait sometime, as you said, when I find the right bloke, I may decide to do something about it. I'm not in any rush. You'll get your grandchildren in due time. For now, I'm going out to have fun. Do I look presentable?''

''You look okay, but you must not neglect your figure.''
''I know, I know, I'm going to do something about it.''
''You keep saying that, I'm not seeing anything happening!''
''It's not going to happen overnight. It takes time to lose some pounds.''
''With you it could take years, if no one tells you about it. Does none of your boyfriends say anything about it?''
''Some of them are not like you, seeing everything. They're glad they have me around them.''
''You mean they can't get anything else, and you're their last choice?''
''Take that one back. There was no call for that!''
''Okay, you're right, I'm sorry I said that. When you meet the right one, bring him along, and we can have a friendly chat.''

The End.
