The Night is Heavy

The night,
Hot as sugar,
Moves like a waltzing damsel
—Step by distressed step—
Towards compromise of its sweetness.

The moon
Hangs like a noose,
Smoldering above men’s hot hands.
Its ashes flutter like burnt snowflakes,
Covering earth in a sordid white sheet.

The night
Is Heavy and ashamed,
Its constellations tear, spit and blush
—wander the cosmos—
Looking for untainted sky.
