I can't believe it's nearly over
I can't get over you
The one who showed me what love was
I can't believe we're nearly through
I always knew this day would come
I knew it all too well
To think of life without you there
Would take me straight to hell
I can't hold back the flying time
God knows I wish I could
I hope you felt my love for you
I hope you understood
So as I lie beside you scared
The wind sharpening my dagger shaped tears
I return to the love we built and shared
Through all those richly shortened years
And as the invisible swords carve up my acid filled chest
I let my quivering fingers soak up what's left
Of your magic touch, I love you so much
I close my eyes and search for a better place
While the birds sing to the trees
I listen to my tears roll down your face
As my heart dies from your disease
I can never repay what you've given me
You shone the brightest of lights into my darkest corners
You lit up my spirit and showed me what I couldn't see
So take my tears, take my tears and fly
Fly away to a better world
A world that you deserve
I've heard that there's that world somewhere
And I believe it's true
A world that's set aside
For angels just like you.
