A distant heart beats to her own drummer----and then the reader becomes an instrument that hears the pounding surf making its own music.

Somewhere
In a city far away
There writes a maiden all forlorn
Whose life speaks volumes newly born.

Her words shout beneath a whisper
Yet whose whisper kindly asks
Perhaps a plea
But nonetheless one can see.

Phrases drawn deftly from her heart
A mind that races to never part
To give her life to poems of art
To always push the piercing dart.

Is tragedy a welcome friend-----
One whose arrow tears can send?
The greatest morrow comes on sorrow
The saddest carol one can borrow?

Make a life instilled in verse
A heart fulfilled in love's most ardent need
To wake a mind's spilling purse
To make a pact easily signed
Not a pact easily resigned.
