Julie's Tail

Her name is Julie and she's my friend

In loyal caring, our shadows blend

Broken, quick, by a tennis ball

We romp and play at beckon call

Now, on a warm and sunny day

While laying ground outside the way

A busy tail means one is near

But her happy "grin" shows no fear

Then tilt of head with upward glance

She edges toward, as in a trance

I look with haste, but no ones there

What made Julie stop and stare...

In seconds, then, a sense of past

I know who's joined our shadow cast

A soul we knew and loved in life

Is comforting his grieving wife
