In only one moment there can start a life

As if a fish breaking the dazzled surface of the water

Could change a river for ever.

In one moment and not in any other

Of chance and intention, of passion and design.

Of physics and magic setting off together

Hiking and swimming, journeying with utmost purpose

Like ill assorted parents who pool their resources

And juggle hats and grow food.

Love goes backwards to that moment

And forwards to others like birth and the first smile.

Physics and magic, and moments, journeying with utmost purpose.
